Construction materials firms on the contrary have been aggressive in expanding abroad usually through local joint ventures. Residential building abroad is done by construction companies who do not do residential building in Australia, as they state they cannot compete against efficient small builders. Very few housing firms operate in more than one state, and none abroad. Probably the only study ever done on trade and competitiveness in residential building services and building materials in Australia. ![]()
